Rosalia

Rosalia Vila Tobella[2] (born 25 September 1992),[3] known mononymously as Rosalia (Spanish: [rosa'li.a], Catalan: [ruz@'li.@]),[4][5][6] is a Spanish singer. Her family was in Barcelona and has been called an "atypical pop star" due to her many musical styles. She was attracted by Spanish folk music at the age of 13 years old. She studied musicology at the Catalonia College of Music and also performed at weddings. Reimagining flamenco through mixing it with hip hop and pop music, it spawned the hit singles "Malamente" and "Pienso en tu Mira", which caught the attention of the Spanish general public and were released to a wide praise from critics. The album was awarded the Latin Grammy Award for Album of the Year and listed in Rolling Stone's list of 500 Greatest Albums of All Time, El Mal Querer started the ascent of Rosalia into the world music scene. Rosalia's 2019 albums "Con Altura" (13) and "Yo x Ti Tu x Mi" (12-13) were pioneers in urban music and achieved global success. Her third album, Motomami (2022) she gave reggaeton a fresh twist, departing slightly from the original flamenco vibe. Its singles "La Fama" and "Saoko" were able to capture the attention of global audiences and received the highest-rated album on Metacritic. In her entire career, Rosalia has accumulated ten number-one singles in her home country, which is the highest number for an artist from the country. Two Grammy Awards, eleven Latin Grammy Awards (including 2 Album of the Year wins), four MTV Video Music Awards and three UK Music Video Awards have been awarded to Rosalia. Rosalia also won two Premio Ruido Awards. Billboard has awarded her the Rising Star Award in 2019 for "changing the music scene of today through her flamenco-influenced pop"[18[18]. She is also the first Spanish-singing artist to be nominated at the Grammys for Best New Artist. Rosalia was born on 25 September 1992 in Sant Cugat del Valles and raised in Sant Esteve Sesrovires,[20][21][22] Baix Llobregat, Catalonia. Her birthplace was in a family without artistic heritage and is the eldest child of Pilar Tobella who runs a small business in the family that specialises in metalworking. Jose Manuel Vila was her father. He was born in Cudillero (Asturias). They split in 2019. The actress has an older sibling, Pilar "Pili" Vila (born 1989) and works with Rosalia as her stylist and creative director. Rosalia began to be interested in performing arts in her early years and was particularly interested when she came across the discography by Camaron de la Isla. She began her musical training in the Taller de Musics [es]. She completed a 6-year program in the academy. She began attending class at the Raval school and later transferred to the Superior School of Music of Catalonia. [25] She also worked on her own, singing at weddings, bars for music and other functions. The pay was "a less than 80 euros or as a payment for dinner". Rosalia was at the mercy of many underground Spanish performers during that period, including La Zowi and Yung Beef, Kaydy Case, Hinds Maria Escarmiento, Kaydy Cain.
