Bonanza is the first western ever to broadcast in full colour, told the story about the Cartwrights. The real family that was cattle ranchers they resided in the 1890s in Virginia City Nevada. This mining town was a boomtown. In the episode Marie My Love the actor played Cartwrights' youngest son. The mother of the family was of French Creole origin.
